MVSA has two lighted Trap and Skeet ranges operating under rules and guidelines of the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) and the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA).
Trap and Skeet fields are open for member & non-member shooting on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. MVSA holds a registered ATA event monthly and can be scheduled for private events.
Check the MVSA calendar for specific dates and times.
The match fee is $5.00 per round for members. For non-members there is a $5.00 registration fee, plus $5.00 per round. MVSA has guns and ammunition available. For more information contact Rodger Cameron at minidilbert@yahoo.com.
Approximately 175,000 clay targets are thrown by the trap and skeet machines each year on MVSA’s 2 primary trap/skeet overlay fields. Members also bring their own targets and practice on the trap practice field #3.
Trapshooting makes up 80% of the clay targets thrown at MVSA. The popularity of trapshooting is sustained by programs such as AYSSP (Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program) sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Trapshooting continues to be a popular activity for youth in the Garland County 4H program.
The trapshooting year (season) runs from September through August and operates under the rules of the ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association). MVSA held 12 tournaments and 1 league during the 2020 season with an average of 20 shooters at each tournament. 115 individual shooters registered a total of 47,625 targets at these tournaments in the 2020 season.
MVSA was awarded a grant from the ATA gun club fund to expand the trap tournament capacity in 2021.
